New album!

The Wintering Project

Born out of a St. John’s winter, this collaborative album features nine iterations of Ian Foster’s original 90-second solo piano piece. Wintering flows through versions that bring out specific parts of the melody, reflect its mood through movement, and even transform the music into something nearly unrecognizable from its original form.

Founded by Ian Foster, NÄRA Community brings likeminded people together through events, music releases, workshops, and more.

NÄRA is a Swedish word meaning ‘near’ or ‘close,’ as well as ‘to nourish or nurture.’

NÄRA Community encourages collaboration and experimentation under the broad umbrella of ‘modern cinematic music,’ with the goal of sharing this music on record and on stage.

Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, NÄRA is a label with digital releases, a traveling concert series, and a community that offers opportunities for artists and music fans with similar interests to gather and share in their love of music that ranges from electronic to neo-classical and beyond.

We are built on community, collaboration, curiosity, creation and curation.
